How to Get Your Old Clash of Clans Account Back

Due to a problem with your smartphone or tablet, you had to reset or even replace it. Although you were able to restore most of the data, installing Clash of Clans again made you realize you had to start all over again. Don't worry, because chances are your progress hasn't been lost.

In today's guide, I'll show you how to recover your Clash of Clans account so you can restore all your progress and get back to playing from where you left off. I'll give you the preliminary steps to make sure you can save your data online and then the procedure to recover your account on your new or reset device, via Google Play Android Games, iOS Game Center or SuperCell ID.

I bet you can't wait to start reading the tips I wrote for you, can you? What are you waiting for then? Let's get started right away: sit down nice and comfortable and pay the utmost attention to the procedures I'll show you in the next chapters. I just wish you a good reading and, above all, a good time!

Getting Started

To make sure you can restore your Clash of Clans data, if you need to reinstall the app, it's important to create an account to save all your online progress.

To do so, on the main Clash of Clans screen, tap on the gear icon in the upper left corner and press the Disconnected button near the SuperCell ID. On the screen you see, tap on Register Now, type your email address and then enter the six-digit code you received via email. You'll have created your SuperCell ID to help restore your game's progress.

If so, you can also create an account through the Google Play Android Games service or iOS Game Center. On Android smartphones and tablets, start Clash of Clans and tap a gear icon at the top left. In the box shown, tap Disconnected, next to Google Play Access, and select the Google account you want to associate Clash of Clans data recovery with. When you're done, tap Allow and you're done!

On iPhones and iPads, however, data is only saved if you've created a Game Center account in the iOS Settings app, launch it and select Game Center. Then check whether the stick next to the Game Center item is set to ON and whether there is a profile in the Game Center Profile section. If not, you will be shown an account creation screen that you can access with the same Apple ID configured on your device or another Apple account.

Retrieve Clash of Clans accounts on Android

If you own an Android smartphone or tablet, you can retrieve your Clash of Clans account using the Google Play Games service or SuperCell ID, depending on the one you configured earlier. In the next few lines, I'll explain how to restore it without losing your Clash of Clans progress.

Download Clash of Clans

If you've had to reset your Android device or replace it, the first thing you need to do is reinstall the Clash of Clans app. To do so, open the Play Store and type the words "clash of clans" in the search bar at the top. Among the results that are shown, tap on the one that matches your search, then tap on the Install button and finally tap Open. As an alternative to the above procedure, you can simply tap on this link from your smartphone or tablet to open the Clash of Clans page directly on the Play Store.

If you are having trouble downloading Clash of Clans, you can download the APK from APKMirror via this link. Browse the page that is shown to you, until you reach the All versions section. At this point, select the latest available version and then choose the one compatible with your Android device, among those in the Download section. Then press the Download APK button to download the file.

APK files can be started on Android only and only if the installation has been enabled from unknown sources, i.e. from sources other than the official store. From Android version 8.0 and later, to perform this operation, access the settings by tapping on the icon with a gear, located in the home screen. Then tap Security and Privacy > Other > Install unknown apps. Select the app that will open the APK file (your browser or file manager) and move the toggle from OFF to ON, next to Allow app installation.

On older versions of Android, instead, go to your device settings and select Security. Push the Security button on the latter and then move the stick next to it from OFF to ON to confirm by pressing OK .

After that, just open the previously downloaded APK file and press Next, Install and Finish. That was easy, wasn't it?

Login to Google Play Games

To restore your Clash of Clans account, you can use the Google Play Games service, if previously configured in the game. If, before resetting your Android device or uninstalling the app, you've configured the game to be associated with Google Play Games, simply log in with the same Google account.

If your Google account on your smartphone or tablet is the same as the one you used to save your data, simply start Clash of Clans and press on the gear icon in the top left corner of the game's main screen. In the box shown, tap the Disconnected button next to the Google Play Access item and select the Google account where your progress was stored.

When you're done, tap the Allow button and then the Upload button in the notification that appears. This will restore all your progress.

Isn't the Google account on my device the same as the one used on Clash of Clans? Don't worry. What you need to do is add another Google account on your Android device, so that it is automatically configured on Google Play Games and use it on Clash of Clans to recover your data.

To do this, go to Android settings and tap on Users and Accounts > Add Account > Google. On the screen shown, log in to your Google account with your Gmail address and the password associated with it. Now, follow the same steps as above to connect Clash of Clans to Google Play Games.

Login via SuperCell ID

If, on the other hand, you have synchronized your progress through the SuperCell ID, the operation is much easier and more immediate. What you need to do is make sure you remember the email address you used to create your SuperCell ID. If you do, search your email messages for the one coming from SuperCell to make sure the email address is the right one.

After that, start the game and tap on the gear icon in the top left corner. Now tap on the Disconnected button next to the SuperCell ID. In the on-screen box, press the Sign In button, type the SuperCell ID email address and the six-digit code that was sent to you in the email. You'll be logged in with your SuperCell ID and you'll be shown a message to restore all your progress.

Retrieve Clash of Clans account on iOS

If you play Clash of Clans on your iPhone or iPad, you can restore your game progress via the iOS Game Center or SuperCell ID. In the next few chapters, I'll explain how to do this in a few minutes.

Download Clash of Clans

The first thing to do to restore your Clash of Clans account is to install your app from the iOS App Store. To do this, start the Apple store on your device, using its icon with a stylized A.

When you're done, press the Search icon, located in the bottom bar, and type the words "clash of clans". From the search results, select the one corresponding to the terms you typed and press the button with a cloud. Then unlock the download and installation using Face ID, Touch ID, or the password associated with iCloud.

Alternatively, you can tap on this link to go directly to the Clash of Clans page on the App Store, via the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad.

Login to Game Center

When you start Clash of Clans on iOS and a Game Center account has been configured and activated, which I told you about in this chapter, the progress is saved automatically. The moment you reset your Apple device or reinstall the app, you'll be automatically logged in to the Game Center and you'll be shown a data restore message in the game.

It may happen that, despite having logged into the Game Center on Clash of Clans, no progress is restored. In this case, the problem probably lies in the fact that the Game Center account used is not the same as the one used during the first association with the Clash of Clans app.

To resolve this issue, if you remember your previous Apple ID, launch the iOS Settings app and select Game Center. Now tap the Use a different Apple ID for Game Center at the bottom of the screen and press the Not nomeaccount@icloud.com button. Now log into your new Apple account and you're done! Re-opening Clash of Clans will sign in to the correct Apple ID and restore your game progress.

Login via SuperCell ID

In case you have saved Clash of Clans progress through the SuperCell ID, the procedure to follow is the same as the one I explained in this chapter.

First, start Clash of Clans and tap on the gear icon in the upper left corner. When you're done, tap on the Disconnected button, located near the SuperCell ID, and on the screen you see, tap on the Login button. Now, type in the SuperCell ID email address and enter the six digit code you received on the email. You will then be shown a message to upload your village associated with the SuperCell ID that you just signed in to.

In case of problems

If you should have problems recovering your Clash of Clans account, you have several alternatives that you can choose to follow.

If you've been using Google Play Android Games or iOS Game Center and can't remember the password to the respective accounts, you can try resetting it. In this case, you can go to the Google or Apple login page and perform the password reset procedure. Alternatively, you can read my guide on how to recover Google accounts or the guide on how to recover Apple ID passwords.

If, despite the procedures described in this guide, you still experience problems restoring your game progress, you can contact technical support directly in the game, as described in the official FAQ.

To do so, tap on the gear icon in the Clash of Clans main screen at the top left. In the box you see, tap on the Help and Support button and press on the comic icon (on Android) or Contact Us (on iOS), so you can chat with technical support.

If it is possible to restore your progress, you will be asked for the full username and clan name of the lost village or the player's tag; in addition, you will have to indicate the XP level and the exact level of the municipality of the lost village, in addition to the dynamics that led you to this situation of being unable to recover your data.
